Paper Masques, Daylight Savings & Loan, and Brian Ashby: July 30th @ the Fire
Hello Earsnakers,
We here at Paper Masques have been somewhat out of the public eye as we write and arrange new songs for a new album that will commence shortly. But we''re pleased to announce our first full band show in several months, Friday, July 30th at the Fire. We'll be joined by The Daylight Savings & Loan (new band playing their first show ever) and Brian Ashby (formally of the Teeth) who will be playing a solo set. This is going to be a really fun night filled with all sorts of new music that you've never heard before! See you there!!!
Operating in Excellence
Always operating in Excellence.
Things are underway here as I string away on my sweet classical guitar and pound away on the bass while bopping my head to the phat beats coming from my Juno G. Lillie Ruth Bussey and Red Diamond are a force to be reckoned with. They are sharing ideals through one vessel to soon bring to all listening ears a new delight.
Please stay tuned.
In the meantime hit up your local record store to find the latest 7inch release featuring Lillie Ruth Bussey and NonCanon live at the Slingluff Gallery.
Until then...

Πsoundtracks Doris Stelzer's VIEWS IN PROCESS - Wednesday, May 26th
If you happen to be in or around Austria on Wednesday, May 26th stop by Festspielhaus St. Poelten where Werner Moebius will be composing the score for Doris Stelzer's Austrian premiere of Views In Process.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What does the perfect man look like? Images of the female body in
advertising are commonly known – but what about the representation of
the male body? What strategies of staging are applied to men?
In Views In Process, Doris Stelzer is analysing the commercial
exploitation of the male body and the recent trends of representation
in the media in order to transform it into concentrated
movement-statements. Popular clichés and stereotypes are questioned in
regard to their own and their other biological sex and in regard to their
social construction. Reflections on the patterns of perception and a
delicate handling of deviations from the body norm are postulated.
"An evening with little dancing and a lot of movement, Views In Process changes the viewing habits in two ways: the choreography
allows a sensitive look at the details of our bodies and a new view on
society’s well established body images. Provided that one is willing
to open his eyes."

Œ's Permanent Transition
The new album from Œ, earSnake's Austrian sound scientist, is a dubstep and electronica phenomenon. Minimalist soundscapes and trippy club jumpers never seemed so inclined to hang out together on one album. Permanent Transition is laced with everything from alarming trip hop beats like opening track “Opium” to club pop chirps, “Rosebud”, all with an ominous and nocturnal undertone. Think UK's dubstep overlords, Burial, with a penchant for staying out way past their bed time. The 7 track effort is available now on CD and digital download here.
Rare But Serious Side Effects
After receiving much critical acclaim for their second studio album, Synchronized Eyes, Gemini Wolf have called on DJs and producers near and far for a collection of remixes titled Rare but Serious Side Effects.
earSnake will digitally release the album on March 23rd as a pay-what-you-want download via the label’s website. The 12 track effort showcases the eclectic and wide ranging tastes of Gemini Wolf duo Mikronesia and Pandar with remixes by Randy Garcia, Skipmode, Œ, Adam Sparkles, and many more.
While the original was a dance floor foundation for electronica and psychedelic grooves, Rare but Serious Side Effects is a complete sound-scape of today’s electronic music scene. Ranging from William Fields’ ambient remix of "Wick Effect" to the house mix of "Disappear" by Jamie Johnson to composer Joe Hallman's melodica concerto remix of "Music You Make". Every track on the remix album thumps, twinkles, and pops, in an effort to get your head nodding along. To promote the new album, the duo are playing two album release shows:
Friday March 26
Space 407 in Balitmore
Saturday March 27
Tritone in Philadelphia (15th and South)
w. Attia Taylor and Lillie Ruth Bussey
Rare But Serious Side Effects
1. Vibe On (Randy Garcia Remix)
2. Sugar (Skipmode Remix)
3. I’ll Take You (Adam Sparkles Remix)
4. Prism’s Child (Touchy Feely Remix)
5. Wick Effect (William Fields Remix)
6. Disappear (Jamie Johnson Remix)
7. Stakeout Spy Van (Bilwa Remix)
8. Music You Make (Joe Hallman Remix)
9. Sudseyfuss (Nadia Botello Remix)
10. Prism’s Child (Œ Remix)
11. Disappear (Shawn Kilroy Remix)
12. Formation (Mikronesia Remix)
Squeeky Bleeps
Adam Sparkles (a remixer from the new Gemini Wolf remix album Rare But Serious Side Effects) gave a nice shout out and included his remix in his Feb 2010 Playlist. Squeeky Bleeps posted his remix of "I'll Take U".
"And you don't take me anywhere you go?", I don't think so...

Explosive Return...
YaaaAaa! I'm almost back! New songs, new ideas, new dreams, new desires, and so much more. I'm been away from Philly unexpectedly for some time now and I finally realize why. I needed to get some unfinished projects completed. I've been working on my new acoustic album since I've been away in Canada. With the recent experiences in my life I will say there's a lot to be said! Everything being said will be accompanied by guitar or tenor ukulele. Yes, I have stripped down to the bare minimum this time around. That doesn't mean that I've abandoned all those amazing toys of mine. I just couldn't carry everything on the plane. With that said I'll see yall soon. I'll be returning to perform a great show with NonCanon and El Malito at the Slingluff Gallery on December 17. This is definitely a show to not be missed. Rumor has it that we will be recording live video and audio for this show. Then we will be releasing all the sounds on vinyl! What WHAT! Jam on the One !

Trinity Sun
You can now download, read and listen to Pangaea Trinity Sun. In addition to setting the stage for the Pangaea opera, it gives a context for entire saga of Pangaea from composer and earSnake co-founder, Michael McDermott (Mikronesia).
This piece, Trinity Sun, is the creation story of the land of Pangaea. It tells the story of a perfect race of men who lived in the oceans of Pangaea. The mother god, Aeou created them to be timeless and present. Her children gods, Soren, the god of thought, Kot the god of time and Muta, the god of matter, began dabbling in the stone menâs affairs ultimately courupting them and driving them out of the sea. Over the years, these stone men because the ancient race of man that lived on the super continent Pangaea before it split. The story and sounds are by Mikronesia and the text and narration are by Christian Rabin. This is a free release by earSnake. It can be downloaded and streamed over at archive.org, where it is hosted or here at earSnake.

Manufactured Dissent
A crackin new interview with local mystery man Shawn Kilroy... ch...ch...check it out!
"I don't have any interests. I'm not even interested in making music. I have to do it or I get sick. I'm sure that sounds pretentious and phony, but it happens to be true. I write, record and perform music so that I don't have to live out my bullshit. I try to put the worst of myself into the work. Sometimes it works."
Do you like to?
Thanks to everyone who made last week's Gemini Wolf CD Release show at Johnny Brenda's such a success. We'll have a video of the performance up in a week or two... But first we've got a totally awesome new video for the Gemini Wolf song, "Sudseyfuss" from Synchronized Eyes by film maker Derek Moench. This video literally has everything you wanted from a music video, ever.
Synchronize
Were getting ready at earSnake for the release of Gemini Wolf's second album, Synchronized Eyes later this month. The album is a nice evolution in the band's sound. It features more electronic trickery, but also with more organic percussion, some horns, strings and sonic experimentation. It was recorded over the winter of 2009. The album was mixed and mastered by James Dellatocoma at Bill Laswell's West Orange Sound Studios.
You can download the free preview track Disappear before the album drops. The album will be available here, on iTunes and other digital outlets and at their CD release show the week of July 14.
To celebrate the release of the record, Gemini Wolf is playing a show at Johnny Brenda's on July 18. This is going to be a big one, some say, THE big one! So don't miss out. Along with Gemini Wolf will be percussionist Shawn Hennessey from Leana Song, drummer Gary Dann and horns from West Philiadelphia Orchestra on a few songs. Sharring the bill with Gemini Wolf is Pink Skull, West Philadelphia Orchestra and DJ Bilwa and visuals by Nico.

Tell the Ghosts...
earSnake is pleased to announce the release of its latest album, Tell the Ghosts it's Suppertime by Paper Masques. This exquisitely crafted album features an all-star cast of musicians from all over the Philadelphia music community and showcases Paper Masques’ unique folk-tinged psychedelia. The thirteen musicians who populate the album’s intricately arranged tracks bring layers of depth and atmosphere to Steve Quaranta’s songs of loss and depravity; leaving the listener to blindly wander through a lush carnival of urban decay.
The album will officially be released digitally and on CD next Tuesday March 24 and here at earSnake.com.
The record release party is this Saturday at The Fire. This special show will feature the full band plus an extended lineup of strings, flutes, reeds and singers! Everyone at the show can purchase a copy of the album before the offical release date at a discounted price of only $10 for the CD.

G-Town Getdown
Last Sunday I ventured out to the cobblestone streets of Germantown, to visit G-town Radio with Lillie Ruth Bussey. For those of you who don’t know G-town is a super great internet radio station. I am an avid fan of internet radio and podcasts and find much of what I personally listen to this way… anyways… Lillie Ruth played some fabulous ditties; we hung out in their studio… Here’s the podcast.
Rumor has it Lillie will be heading down to SXSW to represent earSnake, so all you heading down make sure to say hi and pick up some earSnake goodies. I was lucky enough to get one of the 30 limited edition CDs she printed…. woop woop!
